💎 Market reverses downtrend to end 1% higher; IT index contributes gains, Infosys top gainer
💎 Indian benchmark equity indices, Sensex and Nifty ended the day with gains after three consecutive session of losses.
💎 At close, the Sensex ended 1.16 percent or 420 points higher to 36,472 while the Nifty50 index ended at 10,739, up 122 points or 1.15 percent. Broader markets traded mixed but Nifty Midcap 100 index ended half a percent higher while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index ended 0.14 percent lower.
💎 Rally in index heavyweights such as Infosys, IndusInd Bank, M&M, Bajaj Finance, among others lifted Nifty above 10,700 level. Meanwhile, the top gainers of the day included Infosys, BPCL, Cipla, M&M and Britannia while the top losers were Bharti Infratel, Tech Mahindra, ITC, Zee Entertainment and Indian Oil Corporation.
💎 Barring realty and media indices, all other sectors ended in the green zone, with Nifty IT up 2.79 percent.
